The long awaited has come: Vieri
scored his 100th goal with Inter. He scored this goal in the 3-1 victory over
Lecce, avoiding a challenge from Lecce keeper and putting the ball into an empty
net to make history. Vieri played 2818 minutes in 2003 and scored 28 in that
year which roughly amounts to one goal each 100 minutes. So this means Vieri scored
approximately scored an average of 25 goals per season(4 years with Inter). Vieri scored his 99th
goal in the defeat against Lazio and Inter fans were waiting for Vieri to score
his 100th this month. In fact Vieri didn't take too long, he scored this goal in
the first game of the year. Vieri was crowned king by his team mates after the
goal, and it was Materazzi who bought the crown two months ago.

Transferred to Inter Milan in July '99 in a world record deal worth 90 billion lire ($50 million), Vieri is surely one of the best strikers on the planet. The 30 year old possesses strength and a powerful precise left-footed shot. He followed in his father's footsteps. Roberto, a technically very gifted forward, played for Sampdoria, Fiorentina, Juventus, Roma and Bologna. Like him,Vieri also has the habit of changing clubs, in fact he changed 9 in 7 years (1992-1999) but the Italian hit-man plans to stay at the San Siro.

at home to Parma on 14 January, 2001. His 100th goal in official matches came in
Inter's 3-0 home win against Atalanta on 6 May, 2001 and his 100th goal with
Inter came in 6th January 2004, against Lecce.

He
has beaten Francesco Antoniloli more than any other keeper while Bologna is his
most frequent target. Between the age of 3 and 14 Vieri was raised in Australia
by his French mother and Italian father, Roberto Vieri, who also like his son
changed a lot of clubs in his career. Vieri speaks fluent English and one of his
favourite sports is cricket and one of his sports idols is Alan Border. Vieri
himself has said that he would quit football to play cricket which he used to
play with the Indians in Australia. Vieri also gives contribute to Italy's
national team and he also has impressive records with his national team. He was
a sensation at France '98, scoring five goals in five matches. He rates his best
as his first in 3-0 defeat of Cameroon, a delicate right-foot chip over the
keeper. Vieri was also part of the team that played in the famous 5th of May
2002, against Lazio in the 4-2 defeat. He was one of the players to score that
day but still wasn't victorious at the end.

Vieri is described as "King of Goals" by his coach Zaccheroni and he says that there is no one like Vieri: "No one has the same goal average as Vieri . He's in great form at the moment, but even when he's not at his best, his name is always on the score sheet. Vieri has some incredible statistics. As long as he plays he will always score."
Vieri is now aiming to score more with Inter and win a major cup that will certainly put a smile on his face.
